This activity will end right where it started.
Your tour begins through Monument Valley's natural attractions.

With your guide, make your first stop at John Ford's Point, where some of John Wayne's western movies were filmed, as well as 'Transformers: Age of Extinction.' Then head into the backcountry area of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park to see the Sun's Eye Arch. Standing here at a specific degree, you can look into the rock arch to find out how it got its name. Also at this location, check out petroglyphs from the Anasazi people and listen to stories from your guide.

Then continue to the Big Hogan, another natural feature that's a favorite photo op site, before stopping at your last backcountry attraction, the Ear of the Wind, the largest arch in the park.

Next, head to the Totem Pole for more photo ops and to hear about their cultural histories, and then visit the North Window, where you can admire the Mitten Butte from a different perspective. Your tour then ends with return to your departure point.

Please note: Guides are locals who have been praised for their storytelling skills and are first aid- and CPR-certified. Water is available but it's recommended that you bring your own snacks and other necessities.

Amazing experience. Highly recommended!

We are a family of 4 who joined this 2.5 hr tour. Had an amazing tour guided by Steven. He was so knowledgeable and informative on everything Navajo/Monument Valley. Yes, you could just do a self guided tour or drive on your own. However you won’t ever be able to get all your questions answered or are able to listen to Navajo guides’ fabulous singing & music performance unless you join the tour. Our teenagers enjoyed the tour, too. Highly recommended.

Steve our guide was amazing. We learned so much about the culture and he played traditional music for us. Also we were in a closed vehicle which was nice because it was freezing outside.

Spiritual Awakening

I like how the guide told the history of the Indians and the spiritual significance of monuments to how he gave us some ideas of photographs. At times, while driving into the wind it was difficult to hear what he was saying. I also liked the song he sang for us in the Navajo language.

The 1st thing i would recommend doing is making sure you can purchase a pass to enter the park. you have to purchase a park pass to enter and the ticket does not cover it. once we found our pick up point there was some confusion. viator modify times on a different reservation when they told me everything remained the same, Harry our tour guide was able to help me straighten it out. in order to see the whole valley you need the tour. Harry took me, my mom and 2 of our closest friends on an incredible tour. he pointed out where many movies were filmed we visit his cousin and showed us a hogan. he sang to us. though the ride is a bit bumpy he gave us plenty of time to take pictures. Also there are plenty of stops where you see people selling homemade jewelry. we found plenty of pieces that were not from a gift shop. so when you take this tour, sit back and enjoy the sites.

Steven, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, considerate and respectful. We appreciated the Monument Valley more because of him and what it meant to his tribe.

Monuments were great but...

Monuments were great but back country part of the tour was a waste of $. Not worth at all. Not much to see. In addition to the tour fee, we still have to paid $20 entry fee just to get in the valley which you can do on your own without paid for a guide. I recommended people just paid your entry fee and see the monuments at your leisure.

Yvonne was our guide. Absolutely awesome! Informative, caring and patient with all of us. Delighted us with a flute song at the Suns Eye. Great way to see Monument Valley.

We had an awe inspiring day. The scenery is magnificent but add in John’s stories and insight and it becomes magical. Thank you for an incredible experience.

I am so glad that we booked this tour - it enhanced our visit to Monument Valley several times over. We got to see so many places and learn so many things we otherwise wouldn’t have, and our guide and driver were just lovely. If you’re planning to visit this incredible place, a tour is essential!
