A trip we will always remember
Laurie_E

I took my grandson to Chicago for his 17th birthday. He wanted to check out all the museums and the Lincoln park zoo. We did all that and more. The city pass and making advanced reservations for specific events made our trip so fun and easy.

Difficulty getting admission to attractions
Hector_B
, Sep 2021
I had issues with my viator passes being accepted at the Field museum and the Shedd Aquarium. This needs to be fixed. Looks like they needed a qr code and the tickets issued only have a bar code. At the Aquarium they were finally able to look at the information in the computer, but it's uncomfortable when the validity of the tickets is questioned.

Be Sure to Search for Fine Print in Unexpected Places

We did Chicago City Pass and overall the pass saved us some money. However, there were no mentioning of requirement to make reservations in our passes that were emailed to us. Most of the places required reservations ahead of the visit. (You had to go the City Pass website to see all the fine print). Once we got to our first attraction we found out ( not sure if it’s just me, but I look at my pass inclusion/exclusion list and wouldnt think about going to the website for additional fine print). We only had 2 days and it was a bit stressfull to manage, the city pass website also doesnt work well and doest actually link to places to places to make reservation (it just soins forever)

We are not able to include the individual attraction reservation requirements on the Viator website or in the ticket email; however, we do note in both of those places the following: Attractions may require reservations and have limited hours/days of operation. Visit CityPASS Online Travel Guide to learn more. Travel Guide: Visit citypass.com/guide/chicago for up-to-date attraction information including reservations, entry instructions, hours of operation and helpful tips to plan your visit.

Hello, We do note in several places on the Viator website and in the Viator ticket email that attractions may require reservations, and guests should check the CityPASS Travel Guide for details. For example, on the website (https://www.viator.com/tours/Chicago/Chicago-CityPass/d673-2640CHI_TR): Visit the CityPASS online travel guide for important attraction information including reservations, entry instructions, hours of operation & helpful tips to plan your visit: https://citypass.com/guide/chicago Attractions may require reservations and have limited hours/days of operation. Visit CityPASS Online Travel Guide to learn more. Travel Guide: Visit citypass.com/guide/chicago for up-to-date attraction information including reservations, entry instructions, hours of operation and helpful tips to plan your visit. On the ticket email: Advance reservations are required at some attractions; visit citypass.com/guide/chicago to learn more. Unfortunately we are unable to list individual attraction reservations requirements on the Viator website, but we do recommend visiting our Travel Guide, which has all the details and also allows you to book many reservations.

Saved a little money, but not a lot of time
Christine_H
, Aug 2021
Saved a bit of money, but not time. At the Shedd and the Field Museum, we had to wait in longer lines than the regular ticket lines. About 45 minutes at Shedd, half hour at the Field museum. The lines were non-existent at both to buy regular tickets.

Never booked through Viator
Yesenia_S
, Aug 2021
This review is for BOTH Viator and Chicago pass. I called 24 hours prior to arriving advising one of the travelers were sick with COVID and needed to canceled. The very next day I received an email that it was denied because the tickets were used. First of All one ticket was used and each place I went they asked for the second person and I confirmed the second person didn’t traveled. I blamed VIator because they didn’t do their do diligence to canceled on time, now I been charged for an attraction I did not used. I have called Viator five times and each time they denied me to speak to a supervisor they kept telling me they are going to speak to the Operator and not even five minutes later I received an email denying the credit. I would never used Viator again but that does not mean I would continue calling. Until I get my money back.

I apologize that you were not able to get a refund through Viator. Unfortunately, Viator is not able to issue refunds for partial orders. However, if one of your passes was not used at all, you may be eligible for a refund for that pass from CityPASS. You can submit a request for review at citypass.com/returns.

The city pass is great to get into some of the highlights of Chicago. The museums are a day event to see all the amazing displays. The Willis tower and Chicago 360 give some great views and I’m looking forward to seeing the aquarium next!

Horrible value
Kimberly_R
, Jul 2021
We would have saved money without the pass. Very disappointed. And many places were already booked up. Or there were additional fees at the chosen venue. Very misleading.
