The basics

For a day of fun in the sun, head down to the Santa Barbara waterfront, where walking paths, bike trails, clean beaches, and the palm-tree-lined Shoreline Park await. The harbor is the launching point for guided kayak tours of the waterfront as well as kayak and SUP rentals. There are three beaches within easy reach here: Leadbetter Beach, known for its surfing; plus East Beach and West Beach, which are separated by Stearns Wharf.

Visitors can stroll the wharf boardwalk for a great view back over the city, and stop at one of the restaurants or wine tasting rooms along the way. Stearns Wharf is also home to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center where younger visitors will enjoy the chance to interact with sea life including manta rays, sea urchins, and anemones.

It was a nice ride through the area with a guide who talked about the local history and highlights. There is parking on site at the Visitor’s Center along with a clean restroom and a place to purchase a few snacks for the ride.

This was a wonderful tour with a very knowledgeable and attentive and responsive guide, Carly! I hadn't kayaked in over ten years and she was so helpful in going over the basics again. We saw wildlife, some beautiful sights around the harbor and beach, and several points of interest. I met some wonderful people as well. Great tour!!!

We always enjoy kayaking, but it was a special treat to kayak through the marina and then out to the open waters! Collin was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable about the marine life, Santa Barbara, and the best restaurants to check out. We had a fabulous time!

Enjoy the many fun facts during the tour as we probably would have missed going in the Clock Tower at the SB Co. Court House. Especially enjoyed seeing the Santa Barbara Mission.

We had a really fun experience and the tour guide was excellent. I can appreciate that we had a native to the city and he was very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this fun tour with interesting little facts sprinkled in between. Santa Barbara is pretty low key and I wanted to see the city in slow motion, which was fabulous!

We liked learning about the history of Santa Barbara and how things were built and by whom. We liked how Mrs. Chase purchased the beach front land to save it from construction. Great tour!

Our driver was amazing, he was from the area which gave him a really good advantage. He answered all of our questions and gave us a lot of insight to the area and surrounding areas. He was very friendly and personable. We would definitely take a tour with him again if we come back to the city! Absolutely loved it!
