How to Spend 1 Day in Portland

How to Spend 1 Day in Portland

With a compact central area and quick access to the surrounding Pacific Northwest landscape, Portland is an ideal city to explore in just one day. From historical architecture to a hip culinary scene to nearby waterfalls, there are a variety of ways to make the most of your limited time in Oregon’s largest city.

Morning: See the Sights

Head out on a hop-on hop-off tour by trolley to see Portland’s top sights at your own pace. Visit attractions that most interest you, such as Pioneer Courthouse Square or Powell’s Books. If you prefer a guided experience, opt for a morning city tour, which shows you the best of Portland in a half-day, or get your caffeine fix on a coffee and doughnut tour. Alternatively, you can discover the natural wonders just outside Portland on a morning tour to Latourell Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in Oregon.

Afternoon: Discover the Tastes

Now is the time to indulge in the array of food and beverage options in Portland, where there’s something for every palette. Beer lovers can check out local breweries on a bike tour while wine enthusiasts can explore urban wineries and tasting rooms on a bike tour of their own. Different neighborhoods can be explored on food tours of downtown or Mississippi Avenue, or experience the city’s food truck and carts culture. If you’re a fan ofPortlandia, don’t miss the chance to see places from the show on a film locations tour.

Night: Explore More

Put an eerie spin on a night out with a haunted pub tour that includes beer samples in the Old Town district, a neighborhood once home to nefarious activities, or perhaps hone your photography skills on a nighttime tour of Portland with a photographer guide. If you prefer to experience Portland from the water, hop on a dinner cruise along the Willamette River.

Bike Around Portland: Bridges, Doughnuts, Poetry and Roses

Bike Around Portland: Bridges, Doughnuts, Poetry and Roses

star-5
52
It's all about the bike ride! We like to spend more time riding in small groups, but always stopping to smell the roses. Start in the inner Eastside neighborhoods, where we will safely fit you for a bike and helmet, ready for a sweet 9-11 mile ride through a pretty residential neighborhood, to our favorite rose garden, into an art-heavy industrial district, across the sexy Tilikum Bridge, and onto Portland's waterfront. From there, it's a visit to Old Town, and tell the story of Voodoo, before we head back over another bridge back to our shop! You'll visit a total of 5 of the city's quadrants, ride over two bridges, and along the Willamette River. We'll visit almost-secret beaches, read poetry written in sidewalks and rocks, see public art of every shape, color and texture. And have you tried some of the city's best doughnuts? Learn our favorites! All along the way, we'll tell the stories of the city we love. Bikes, helmets and water provided. Please wear masks for bike sizing.

Donuts of Portland

Donuts of Portland

star-5

This 2 1/2 hour 4 mile tour takes you to some of the city's most famous donut shops for a taste of Portland's most delicious doughy delights - all food included! We'll cruise between 4 donut shops and ride through several of Portland's most lively and iconic neighborhoods including Old Town, Chinatown, the Pearl District, the Park Blocks, Portland State University and the scenic Portland Waterfront. Our first stop is NOLA with their rich, chocolaty layered La’ssant. The next is the deservedly famous Blue Star, where we'll sample the French brioche-based doughnut that graced the cover of Food & Wine magazine. Then on we go to local favorite Coco Donuts, which not only has scrumptious donuts but also roasts their own coffee. Then we cruise down the hill, along the river and to the most famous place in Portland, Voodoo donuts where we'll skip the line (often an hour long!) and try the notoriously delicious bacon maple bar (vegetarian option available).
